Jean Fullerton is an excellent story teller and has covered a wide range of wartime subjects in her books..... A Ration Book Dream... A Ration Book Christmas.... A Ration Book Childhood.... A Ration Book Wedding and this one, A Ration Book Daughter.

They are so interesting as they list many of the goings on long forgotten.
I do remember ration books but not too much about them...but I really enjoy trying to picture just what my parents went though during those difficult times.

This story gives a lot of information on prejudice of those that are blessed with a colour skin different from our own. The story also revolves around Sergeant Archie McIntosh of the Royal Engineers' Bomb Disposal Squad who is also kind, clever and handsome.
He gets into many a difficult position, in more ways than one while trying his best to keep everyone safe from unexploded bombs.
The way his work is conducted is really interesting and much research has gone into the telling which I found very imformative.

Looking forward to the next book.... "A Ration Book Victory"
