History/Romantic books are not normally books I would read but I decided to give this a chance. Starting the book for me was very slow, I feel like the writer over describes the setting. I prefer action books that are fast paced and filled with dialogue and I feel like the first half of the book was the opposite. It took a while to get used to the fact it was a slow paced book and very descriptive. I did enjoy Cathy and Peters mum-son relationship, it was heartwarming. And the interactions between Peter and Archie were cute. I liked the fact that the writer included a person of colour character and added the hardships he goes through with him being tanned, it brings to light that some people degrade others just because they are not a carbon copy of them and it pisses me off. throughout the book i feel like Fullerton did a good job on writing the characters personalities. I felt the frustration Cathy felt. I felt the viciousness of violet, and the lightheartedness of Archie. I may not have finished the book due to not enjoying the genre but this book would be good for readers who love a good slow paced romantic book.
