I enjoy sagas, stories that do not end abruptly, so the genre of the book, as well as the cover, enticed me to pick it up from the shelf. The story is set during WWII, and it's exciting to see how Jean Fullerton established the story of a young wife and mother during these difficult times. It piques my interest from the start - I get the impression that Cathy is a strong woman. But will it be enough to win the battle with a life and all the challenges that she will face along the way? I'll definitely add it to my TBR list. From the moment I read the blurb until the end of the section, I fell in love with this story. It told an amazing story about what would have happened to hundreds of women during nearly all of the wars, but no one talks about. Everyone normally thinks of the wives who were left behind as heroic and loyal to a fault, but people seem to forget that this was real life, and nothing is as it appears. That is exactly what I believe this demonstrated. You feel a strong connection with her and are compelled to continue reading.
I like the cover because it clearly shows the main characters as well as the flowers, which give the impression of a wedding.
