I really loved this addition to the series. I did wonder if we would find out about the story behind Father Mahon and Queenie as it was always there and had been alluded to previously. I loved the subplots of Jo and Tommy and the adoption and Billy and Pearl’s relationship. The end was really sad that Father Mahon died only knowing he had a son for such a short amount of time but great that he got to know the truth before he died. I didn’t like Nora and she was certainly the cause of her own unhappiness being jealous although I can’t honestly say queenie did the right thing but I understand given the times. I loved the cameo role played by HRH. Another lovely tale to add to the collection and really nice addition to the story so far. I am really hoping that there will be more and we find out about life after the war. I want to know about life in East Ham and life after. Highly recommended read as always
