Jean Fullerton finishes this book series in her fabulous adaptation of life in the
second world war and the effects it took on all members of the family from the young babies to the ageing grandmother matriarch Queenie Brogan .The author gives a well researched idea into the hardships of a working family in this time era . The characters which have grown over the series are likeable and relatable .The main relationship in this final book is that of grandma Queenie and Patrick Mahon the parish priest and the story delves into the past to when Queenie and Patrick were childhood friends in the roaming countryside of Ireland . The flashbacks to when they were young and how their lives have changed over the years and are now reunited in wartime London .The book is a lovely feel good comfort read and an ideal ending to Jean Fullerton's wartime series.
