This is the first book I have read from Jean Fullerton. It is quite a good read, the only thing that I didn’t like very much was the fact that it went back and forward in time, so it got a little confusing, maybe it should have been back in time for the first half of the book and the second just in the war time so it didn’t flip back and forth constantly. But the story was really good and it told the story of the old woman Queenie from when she was a young girl back in Ireland, to the war when she was living in England with her family. She had a past with the local priest, and this book centred around this. It was a very moving story of love and loss across the years, it was quite a sad ending, but good that the story got told and Queenie could rest easily knowing she had got it off her chest. I would definitely read more of her books as I like books that are set in the war.
