My very first impression: the cover of this book was an absolute turn-off for me ... if I saw it on the shelf in a bokshop I wouldn't even bother to read the synopsis.
I must admit that novels in this genre hold almost no appeal to me and although the writing style made it seem like an easy, undemanding read, the story seemed to lack the psychological depth I look for in a book. I haven't read any of the earlier books in this series and, from reading the opening chapters of this one, think this would probably prove to be a disadvantage had I been tempted to enter the draw for a copy.
