Having read and thoroughly enjoyed all the Ration Book series so far I'm looking forward to reading the rest of A Ration Book Wedding. Jean Fullerton writes very knowledgeably about life during the Second World War making this both a history book and a novel. Much can, and should, be learnt about life in these times and the hardship and deprivation faced by both the fighting forces and the people at home. The author focuses once again on two families, the Brogans and the Fabrinos, and it's great to make their acquaintance again and read about their life in wartime. This book starts with a description of Francesca Fabrino finishing her shift at the munitions factory then moves on to describe the exploits of Charlie Brogan, one of the Desert Rats. The Brogan and Fabrino families are life-long friends and Francesca has long been in love with Charlie however he is married to Stella and has a young son. Regular readers will know that Stella has gained a reputation. Now Charlie has been wounded and is to be invalided home and I and many others will be eagerly awaiting the chance to read the rest of this book and discover what fate has in store for these two likeable families.
