I am an absolute sucker for a good romance, especially war time ones. And this one was an amazing read, the description of the characters and settings are done so well I felt I was right there with the bombs dropping.
It is WW2 England and the men have gone off to fight. The story centres around Francesca who finds herself working with the handsome Count Leonard who she begins a romance with. However she also still has feelings for her best friend’s brother, Charlie, who is married. Things become more complicated when he returns from the war injured.
It’s a beautifully written, heartfelt story with interesting, relatable characters. I would now certainly like to read more from this author.
