I have read a couple of these ration book novels and i have to say they never disappoint. The author cleverly introduces you to each of the characters, explaining through the story who they are and what they do and who their family are, and then leads you through their lives into the story in more detail. With these wartime stories you follow through the lives and loves, happiness and heartache, achievements and family disasters and not forgetting the effects of the war , the bombing, the devastation; the blitz and losing nearest and dearest and the way even though rationing was affecting every one the author tells you how people pulled together to make a wedding happen. This book is both authentic and captivating - read it - you won't be disappointed
