This was the first book I have read by this author. I definitely enjoyed reading it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun book. I could see how it fits into a series however that didn't hinder my enjoyment or understanding of the story. It felt very well researched with lots of small details which made it a very interesting to read for me. Overall the writing quality was very high which again made it an enjoyable read. However I did find some of the characters rather 2D and at times I found the overall plot rather hollow. I did preserve and kept reading through these parts and still enjoyed the book as a whole. As a new way of presenting life in the war I would really recommend this book.
