I loved this book I couldn't put it down. Francesca has always been in love with Charlie Brogan but he is married and fighting overseas. She starts a new job for the BBC overseas department and meets Count Leo and decides to forget about Charlie as he is married. Charlie returns from the front due to an injury and finds his marriage is over. You are gripped into the storyline and become engrossed into the lives of them all to find out if they come together or does she choose the easy life with the count. It is well written that you can picture yourself in the east end of London in 1942. I recommend this book for anyone who loves historical fiction and can't wait to read more in the ration book series.
