As most people know I LOVE historical fiction, especially books set during the war! I have always been interested in history and could sit for hours listening to stories from my family members who lived through these events. โฃ

So Iโve read this series a bit backwards as I have received both this book and A Ration Book Childhood from @readersfirst, and I am yet to read the first 2 books ๐. โฃ

The Ration Book series is set during the first years of the Second World War and is based around the lives of the Brogan Family. Each book tells the story of a different member of the family as they grow, from Ida Brogan the loving mother and hard worker trying to support her family to Charlie Brogan, Idas oldest son who is away fighting for his country. โฃ

I absolutely adore Fullertonโs writing style as each chapter jumps to different peoples point of view so you donโt just hear the thoughts of one person. This particular book is about Charlie Brogan who is sent home from the war whilst injured and finally gets to meet his young son, however he discovers what his wife has been up to whilst he is away and does everything in his power to protect his only child. โฃ

This book has everything: romance, a feel good family dynamic, suspense and action! โฃ

The covers are so touching and personally allowed me to imagine the characters as the story went on! ( The front cover of a Ration Book Wedding is actually a picture of the authors auntie on her wedding day!) โฃ

Overall this series is a lovely narrative on the lives of families during the war, and makes you want to be part of the Brogan Family ๐โฃ
