This is the fourth book of the ration book series I have read and throughly enjoyed, it can be read as a stand alone book although there are references to things that have happened in previous books.
Jean Fullerton writes the family so well, on starting this book it felt like I had gone back to visit old friends.
It is now February 1942 and conscription for women over 18 and with no dependences had started, the women had to do war work although the women of the family had been doing there bit for a while now.
A friend, Francesca Fabrino had started work at a factory making parts for aircraft’s but her mind is more on the son of the Brogan family,Charlie. She had liked him for a long time but had been to shy to say and he had married Stella and had a baby boy but lots can change during a war, will Francesca get her dream when Charlie comes home and finds his marriage in tatters.
