It was nice to catch up with the Brogans again. Having read A Ration Book: Childhood about a year ago this one didn't hide any major surprises, which in this occasion is a good thing. Same, heart-warming narrative and gives off a nice feeling despite taking place at an unpleasant time in history. Also some educational value for those not well versed in the ins and outs of those times. There's a nice little twist to add some flavour but I won't elaborate for the sake of avoiding spoilers. In short, another pleasant read in the series and if you have read and liked A Ration Book: Childhood you won't be disappointed with this one. I, for one, will definitely be looking to read more of the author's books in the future as there seems to be a simple but successful recipe to a simple but nice stoey here.
