Well firstly that cover is just horrid. It just doesn't draw me in at all....there's no way I would see that and pick it up to find out more in a book shop.
The blurb doesn't do much to inspire me to read on either. I love the Game of Thrones books, and can handle a convoluted plot and huge character list but this is just messy and doesn't explain itself succintly....it feels like it's trying too hard to explain when the story should do that for itself. And the plot just sounds 'blah'....mismatched romance, torn loyalties, politics and war...for this to stand out above the hundreds of other books out there like this the plot and writing have got to be exceptional and on first impression this doesn't have the strength to carry it out.
