You are right into the action from the first line with a character who has been wounded - perhaps mortally - in battle. He lies among many of his slain comrades, but must survive long enough to deliver a message. There's a great deal of detail and a real ring of authenticity about the set-up. As this is just the prologue and the book opens with a different character you want to know what happened to the viking - did he deliver the message and what was it?
