This book was a hefty read at over 600 pages long. I have not read a book of this genre much before - so I decided to take the leap. Effectively - the book is set in 8th Century Sweden. We follow a viking named Erlan, who is involved in a war type feud, a battle between countries and kings. His enemy's daughter, Princess Lilla is following Erlan - unbeknownst to the king. We follow the battles, betrayals and enemies.
I must say this book was a bit more violently graphic than I would normally be able to tolerate, which got more intense by the end of the book. That would be a trigger warning - although with a book about war, what else should we expect!
Overall the book was very well written, with an extremely knowledgeable background.
