As with all YA novels I have read so far, this book comes with its fair share of angst and quirkiness. In fact, in the opening chapters we learn of a father that has lived in a basement for six years, a mother than lives as a modern day witch, a son that is terrified of the dark and a daughter, who dresses as a different character each day, trying her very best to hold everyone together! So you can be assured that this has its fair quota of quirks.
But the story rolls along at a great pace with a host of wonderful characters, who you'll be rooting for all the way.
It's a book about facing your fears, realising what's important and asking for help when the going gets tough.
Esther is a heroine I will remember for a long while to come
