A Snowflake's Guide to Christmas is the perfect stocking filler. This guide includes contemporary and comical ideas on how to ethically celebrate Christmas. The author takes the word "snowflake", which is often used as a derogatory insult to the liberal minded, and instead reclaims use of the label to throw it back in the faces of those who use it as an insult. The guide contains nineteen chapters outlining the problem with a different Christmas tradition and then offers eco-friendly and sometimes comical solutions.

The book is a small handy sized guide small enough to fit in a Christmas stocking. I really like the cover, with the gold lettering and gold festive snowflakes against the dark green background. I particularly like the cartoon avocado, the unofficial emblem for millennials, in a santa hat. It's a simple cover but eye-catching and very effective.

The short fun quiz at the beginning identifies me as a snowflake and as a result I fully enjoyed this guide. The chapters are short and to the point. Not only is the book full of information, there are smaller subsections that feature such as the "call out corner" and jokes, scenarios and interesting historical facts. There is no way that you can say that this book is boring. Even if you were approaching the idea of an eco-friendly Christmas for the first time this guide is a very pleasant guide to read.

As a proud millennial I have grown up in the era of striving towards a "green" future and I found this book entertaining and informative. I would definitely gift this to a book-loving friend, whether they are a "snowflake" or a "noflake". This book doesn't insult anyone and isn't preachy, it simply outlines the problem with a Christmas tradition and offers alternative solutions in an entertaining way. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to be a friend to the earth. I would also recommend it to anyone who genuinely would appreciate more information about the problem with Christmas traditions in a succinct and entertaining way.
