This is a book for those of us who try and reconcile ethical worries about climate change and rampant consumerism with a feeling that somehow we should enjoy Christmas . It both represents us and pokes fun, so a present for both the Snowflake and the Noflake. It covers the horror that is the Secret Santa while positioning itself as the ideal Secret Santa gift - thus perfectly representing the Snowflake’s dilemma. Good for a giggle although not every joke hits the mark. Most of the suggestions are meant to be tongue in cheek but there is the occasional bit of good advice! The author couldn’t possibly have predicted the circumstances under which it would be published. It, like many books before it, pokes fun at a Christmas that most of us are unlikely to have this year. It may therefore be well positioned to appeal to those who are nostalgic for what is in fact , for many, a perfectly dreadful time!
