I had such high hopes for this book. I enjoyed the witty title and cover that counteracted and reclaimed the idea of 'snowflake' and expected a book that would provide tips on a more sustainable Christmas, as well as guidance for other aspects of the holiday. However, I was slightly disappointed.
The book provides some perceivable ideas for tackling Christmas and at times is written in a humorous way - I particularly enjoyed the rewritten Christmas songs with themes of consumer culture and the climate crisis. However, for the most part is quite negative and sarcastic, and I imagine some of the pop culture reference will make no sense in the coming years.
Therefore, although sections about Christmas trees, crackers and decorations were some what insightful, others such as carollers and party games were perhaps unnecessary.
So overall, interesting to read the once but not what I'd hoped it'd be.
