Caroline Stark's perfect world falls apart when she discovers that her husband, Jason, has been lying to her. Convinced that he has been having an affair, she turns to a handsome stranger (Aidan Callahan) for comfort. It was only meant to be a brief affair in Caroline's eyes, but Aidan doesn't see it that way...
The subject and storyline is a bit cliche, and you can guess where the story is going (at least I did). The chapters bounce between the viewpoints of Caroline and Aidan, and are incredibly conflicting in their details. These conflicting details are there to illustrate differing viewpoints of the two main characters (I assume), but as a result the flow of the book just feels muddled, disjointed and a little bit messy. At points it felt like you'd missed a chapter, when things would just suddenly happen, or locations would change. This story would probably have worked better as a drama series or a film rather than a novel.
I don't think the blurb on the back does the book any favours either - Caroline isn't actually accused of murder, and indeed her husband is obviously missing, until late on in the book - having read these details on the back you'd expect them to occur early on, but you just keep waiting for them to happen...
Now, even with all of the above, I didn't dislike this book, I was just disappointed that it wasn't as good as it could've been.
