This is a twisting tale which, from a few chapters in, becomes clear that it's from two viewpoints, each telling a different version of events. We have Caroline Stark, married to Jason Stark, who is overseeing the final touches to their beautiful dream house at the beach. Then we have Aiden Callaghan, a bartender at the towns local bar. He has a history and is the brother of the local Police chief. Aiden works the bar at her housewarming party, a party at which her husband shows up with a Russian woman who appears to be his girlfriend. Devastated Caroline goes on a bender in the next few days and ends up in Aiden's arms. Aiden can't believe that this beautiful woman wants to be with him. As the book progresses the two versions of events start to differ greatly and when, during a hurricane, Jason disappears and Aiden is found covered in blood the next morning, it is assumed that Aiden has killed Jason. It seems clear cut, but is it. Then Caroline disappears and can't be contacted by the investigating team.
A very good book that I had to finish even though I had a sneaking feeling I knew what was happening.
