Having read Don't Make a Sound quite recently I decided to try A Tapping At My Door to see if the first Nathan Cody book is as good . Yes it is is the answer !! It might even be better . This was unusual as the first book in a series is normally not as good .
Nathan Cody is a good , but flawed cop .This is his first case back at work since suffering from Post Traumatic Shock Disorder after a previous case went wrong When a police woman is murdered he is assigned to the case and it soon becomes clear that the killer has a particular grudge against the police . Set in Liverpool there are plenty of witticisms to lighten the moments when things become too tense .
What I would say is don't read the first part of the book alone at night . It is just as scary as any horror film . The suspense just climbs and climbs . Also expect to shout at anyone who dares to interrupt you as you just have to know what is going to happen next !
David Jackson truly deserves to be up there with the other great crime writers . Superb !
