I’m never sure if I like detective series books. I feel to make them good the story has to be good, gripping, twisty and turney!
This one I was unsure about. For a start I don’t like the cover and would never have selected it in a shop but was sent it as part of a book selection.
The story was okay and I did feel invested in the characters but it then fell a bit flat for me. I didn’t feel motivated to pick it up and read. I also struggled slightly with the start and getting into the book so, really, I was only briefly gripped in the middle. I’m not sure I’ll be looking to read the rest of this series. That being said I’d definitely recommend to people who love a detective series. For example my mum would probably love this book and I’ll definitely be passing it on to her. Out of 5 this is definitely a 3 from me. Some interesting moments but just not enough momentum.
