Following on from the first adventures of Queen Elizabeth’s murder mystery, the prequel is just as good, in that it possesses comical events, yet at the same time crime is the centre of the story and solving mysteries is indeed the main focus.
This story is just as unique in its narrative as the first novel, and told from the queens perspective which I think is done amazingly. This is certainly a story that is for reading in comfort, underneath a blanket and for reading over again. Not to mention, the way comedy is written into a rather serious topic, but somehow, it works incredibly well. To tell the story from a queens perspective, and to make her funny is a talent that many of us wish we could have. I feel that fans of the Thursday Murder Club will be particularly fond of this one, and I recommend to anyone who likes a murder mystery, but likes a cosy, light hearted read.
