I really enjoyed reading A Three Dog Problem. I haven't read the first book in the series, A Windsor Knot, so wasn't sure whether I would be missing too much information for this book. Luckily, whilst there were references to the previous book, the new one works well as a stand alone read, and everything is explained without the need to read the first.

I found the storyline to be a nice mix of light hearted fun around the Queen solving a murder mystery balanced with a well thought out plot line. New information and clues to the circumstances surrounding the death in the palace were gradually introduced at a good pace to keep the reader interested and guessing.

Overall I found A Three Dog Problem to be an enjoyable book that is ideal if you want a more light hearted mystery, rather than a darker one. I will look out for other books in the series to follow the Queen in her secret mystery solving side job.
