I read and enjoyed the first book in this series, The Windsor Knot. This book isn’t a sequel but follows on from the first story, with many of the same characters.

The cover fits with the series and I love the corgis on the front. The eye catching teal colour also appeals to me, and I would pick it up if I saw it on a book shelf.

I read the book and also listened to the audiobook. I thought the audiobook was well narrated and it suited the story.

The Queen’s sleuthing skills are put to good use once again when a body is found in the swimming pool at Buckingham Palace. It seems like a tragic accident, but there’s more to it than meets the eye. There are poison pen letters and the Queen is convinced one of her paintings has been taken. The Queen’s Secretary, Rozie, is tasked with helping the investigation. Can they work out what’s going on before there’s another murder?

The story was alright but didn’t really grab me or hold my interest in the way the first book did. It’s a good book to pick up and read a few chapters of if you have time to kill.

With the Queen and Prince Philip both dead now, it’s a more poignant story than the author had perhaps intended.

I liked the characters and it was an enjoyable enough read. I would read more books by this author.
