To begin with I thought that this was a story about some sort of fictional queen who had turned detective when strange things began to happen at her palace. So when I got the book and began to read it, I realised that I had been mistaken. Yes, this was a fictional story with some fictional characters, but many of the characters were based on real people including members of the British Royal family. The Queen in the story was actually our real queen.
At the start of the book we learn that a dead body has been found near the palace swimming pool. Then we are taken back in time a few years to the time when we had our latest female prime minister and lots of other things were going on in British history such as Brexit. This meant that the poor Queen had several problems to deal with in the outside world , so the last thing she needed was to have trouble inside the palace. But there was trouble brewing with the household staff ,and a missing painting from the Queen`s own collection.
