This is an easygoing mystery read featuring a fictional version of HRH Queen Elizabeth II set around the official events she attended in autumn 2016 with a fictional murder and more occurring in amongst. The author has given her majesty a convincing voice and there’s obviously been good research done regarding her activities both then and in previous specified times. As well as The Queen the story is well supported by characters making up her staff members, most particularly her Assistant Private Secretary, Rozie. The plot is well constructed although occasionally I had trouble keeping track of who some of the characters were and there’s a warmth about the book which is in my opinion respectfully written. This isn’t laugh out loud funny but there’s a charming gentle humour in the voice that the author has given The Queen and she makes for a different but likeable main character.
