When the Queen discovers that one of her favourite paintings has gone missing, she tasks her Assistant Private Secretary, Rozie Oshodi, with getting it back. But then an unpopular housekeeper is found dead by the swimming pool at Buckingham Palace and the Queen and Rozie begin a covert investigation into the death. With poison pen letters, fraudulent art, and a host of characters who are not what they seem, the Queen discovers that there is more going on in the royal household than she could ever have imagined.

I really enjoyed this book; it was original, fun, entertaining, and well written. As someone who is curious and fascinated by the royal family, I loved the setting and that the Queen was an integral part in solving the crimes. It was at times funny, and sad, and covered topical issues. It is a unique form of cosy crime.

My only criticism of the book is that I did occasionally lose track of some of the many minor characters who were introduced, and their relation to the plot.

I will definitely be popping to the library to find the first book in this series, and keeping an eye out for further books by this author.
