I adored The Windsor Knot so was very much looking forward to reading it's follow up and was certainly not disappointed. Once again you are welcomed in this hardback edition with the most amazing end papers.
The story is in a very similar vein - death in a Royal residence (Buckingham Palace this time) but this seems to have been a tragic accident.
However when the Queen spots a picture that should have been hanging on her wall during a visit to Portsmouth a whole can of interconnected worms is opening.
Once again we have Rozie acting as the Queen's eyes and ears as she plays private detective, in the very subtle and understated manner that only the Queen can have.
I confess I got a bit confused by the vast cast of characters at times and struggled to remember who was who on occasion. However, in the manner of all good detective novels, we have a perfect summarisation of the crimes and misdemeanours at the end, to satisfy any confusions.
I very much look forward to the Queen's next investigative outing!
