Sounds like pretty standard YA fantasy, which I enjoy!

There is nothing earth shattering about this plot. It isn't doing anything wildly original, but that's OK. Sometimes you just want to read something with a familiar structure that is escapist and enjoyable with accessible writing. This seems to tick all of those boxes for me.
