The book follows our main character Aderyn her father dies before her approaching seventeenth birthday. Meaning she inherits the role of Protector of Atratys a kingdom of people that are able to transform at will, to the bird of there family’s bloodline. Aderyn's ancestral bird is a swan. However she has not transformed in years this is due to the trauma caused by witnessing her mothers death ( who was killed by the supposedly extinct hawks ). With no family left Aderyn is left to her corrupt uncle. However Aderyn will never be at peace until she discovers the truth about the attack that she barely survived. This book was beautifully written it was empowering and hooking. I rated it 4 stars as although it was hooking some chapter and extracts were boring and tiresome but still enjoyable. I don’t know what else to put that’s all I have to say :)
