“There is nothing but me and the wind
And the wind and I belong to each other”

A Throne of Swans follows Aderyn as she comes to terms with the loss of her father, her change in position and her journey through recovery.

This book contains love, loss, betrayal and shapeshifters. Yep, shapeshifters!

Aderyn is from a family of nobles who have the ability to transform into swans, but throughout the book Aderyn fights with the secret she’s kept for years, a secret her father hid her away for before his passing. Aderyn has lost the ability to shapeshifter into her swan form. Those who cannot transform are known as “flightless”, the flightless are stripped of their nobility and forbidden to rule, and as the protector of her dominion Aderyn cannot risk that secret being uncovered.

The writing in this book was beautiful, and the fact that it was written by two sisters but still flows so perfectly adds to its beauty. I have never read a book by two authors where you cannot identify who is writing and when and I found that incredible, that two sisters and more so, two writers can have such a bond that their words and writings fit so seamlessly together.

The world and the story was built to an astonishing standard. At times the different dominions confused me but I felt like I understood by the end of the book. I adored the plot, everything about this story was a huge journey. The plot was so well built up too, the twists were shocking, I genuinely didn’t anticipate the story following the path it did.

I just can’t properly put into words how much I adored this book! I’m so excited for book two, I miss this world and these characters so much already!
