I enjoy the fantasy genre, so was really pleased to receive a copy of 'A Throne of Swans'. This is marketed as a YA fantasy read, however would suit anyone who enjoys a good story and escape from reality.
It's important to note, that this is not a standalone, but the first in a duology. It's the story of Aderyn, who has inherited the role of a protector in a kingdom of magical shape shifters, the conflict is that she is unable to shift, and fulfil her role.
The conflicts, dangers and intrigues of the court are at the heart of this story, and it's a fun adventure. The story is well told, and there's some great imagery.
