Didn't quite meet my soaring high expectations

This was an interesting read. I liked the world that was built and I really think this is an unique idea which I really liked. In all honesty though, I feel like the premise was more intriguing than the story at end. There was quite a bit which I predicted although a few plot twists definitely took me by surprise!

I liked Aderyn's character. She's not my new favourite character but she was well developed and I truly empathised and sympathised with her and the situation she was in although she did annoy me at parts. Her character also felt very young and I'm pretty sure she's meant to be 18 so in that sense, I didn't like the way she was portrayed.

The romance was meh for me. It had potential but it felt rushed and undeveloped and kind of insta-love. I don't mind it but I'm not a few fan of it either.

Overall, I feel like there was a lot of potential but I just didn't like the execution because the premise itself is so interesting but the friendships weren't that developed and I just didn't connect to most of the characters. I am intrigued enough to want to read more though because there is so much potential and I just love the premise of the way society is structured in this. I will be continuing on. Would I recommend this? I might but it would depend because I think you haven't read a ton of fantasy then you may enjoy this more. Honestly, reading it for the premise was worth it in my eyes.
