This was a nice book. It had everything I look for, magic, enemies-to-lovers, but it had no flavor. It was all a bit predictable, and combined with a stereotypical main character, it could have been better.
Lets talk about Aderyn, orphaned and alone, she decides to go to court, against all sense. She was extremely naïve, very 'I'm not like other girls', and just plain boring. Her cousins, however, were complex, each with their own agenda and a secure way of doing so, they were beautifully written.
On a completely different note, I loved the magic system, and the idea of shapeshifting birds. The description and detail of flying, I now want to be a bird.
The world was good a swell, I love high fantasy especially one as developed as this.
The cover is simple but elegant, the design and colors reflect the nature of the book.
In summary, a good book but with a slightly pathetic main character.
