I really enjoyed this book, it wasn’t something I would have normally chosen but was able to read it at a reduced price and I was impressed. I really liked the world building and the premise of the worlds magic. The heroine was very relatable in her flawed way and enabled the reader to empathise with her. Lucien Rookwood is one of my favourite characters and I really hope we see more of him in the sequel.
The royal intrigue, sabotage and incest really added to the story. The reader was really kept guessing right until the end and there was always a new development.
I would thoroughly recommend this book if you like fantasy novels and I will definitely be reading the sequel. A must add to your TBR.
