The cover unites light and colour in a way that pulls the attention to it and suggests a tale which shall capture the imagination. The blurb holds the key elements of interest: a Castle, elements of family history which are going to impact on the characters today. The impression I get of the plot is is that it will pull one in and capture the imagination. The details from the first few chapters bring fascinating insight into the lives of those involved: many shall recognise the theme of the mother/daughter-in-law relationship being formed as dreams are smashed. The beauty of the location in Scotland and the details of the town are a lovely touch with the chapters from the past bringing a hint of intrigue, especially with the question mark over the fate of the expedition and the events that followed this bringing another set of circumstances where at least one of the people involved feels trapped and without power. With all of these elements involved I suspect it this story shall appeal to everyone who has to manage difficult relatives. This combines so many elements of a good story: situations true to life and a journey of discovery that should lead the reader on a voyage of discovery. These elements should give it wide appeal.
