This is well written and the plot sounds intriguing. However, on reading the first few chapters I am undecided if I would enjoy it or not. Interestingly, the first chapter seems to be recounted from beyond the grave - whisperings on the wind and a presence underground waiting to be discovered.
Moving on subsequent chapters are set during and immediately after WWII. But I wasn't sure that I found a female Cambridge graduate that can fix a car, is a socialist, vegetarian civil rights advocate entirely believable.
Maybe given a longer read I'll warm to it....
