I’m not normally a reader of historical fiction but I quite liked the parts set in the post war years - the main character reminded me of Sam in the Foyles War tv show by Anthony Horowitz. I like the idea but wasn’t too taken but the part that jumped further back. Might get into it if reading the whole thing though. Another to add to my list!
