I received this book quite late so only a couple of days before release day and I was worried I wouldn't get through it in time to post a review on time but this book drew me in immediately and I couldn't put it down! This has the perfect mix of history and mystery with a sprinkling of romance. Romance isn't usually something I enjoy in books, however, this was so well written and it all fitted seamlessly together. The characters are well rounded and have defined personalities completely separate from each other. The writing was beautiful and flowed so it was easy to think 'just a few more pages' until the book is over, which ended too soon. The descriptions of the settings and places give the reader a real sense of what the characters were seeing and experiencing. The mystery throughout the story allows the reader to wonder and speculate along the way, with the addition of the discovery of a body, there was so much to unpack and keep me engaged throughout the book.
