Gripping
Never heard of the author previously but glad I discovered her. I loved every moment of this book. The family mystery at the heart of the story kept you guessing throughout. Finding out not only the identity of a seemingly erased family member but also the identity of remains found on the families property.
Though some may not like the style of switching between different time periods I enjoyed the insight to two very different periods of history, a tale of ancestors.
This book was filled with such emotion and the characters though from over seventies years ago where relatable. The fear and agitation of a new mothers who finds herself suffocated by a well meaning relative. Likewise the worry of a old flame being in your partners life. Yet the main theme being love both fulfilled and unrequited was beautifully portrayed and did bring the characters to life.
