I absolutely loved this book. Picked it up and couldn’t put it down, Caro and alasdair are a newly married couple who are also new parents to felicity they find themselves living in a cosy little cottage on alasdairs family estate in the mid to late 1940s, Caro loves her little family and cosy cottage the only thing that annoys her is her mother in laws constant presence. After some very server weather the cottage gets flooded and a body is found in the ground they are forced to move into the castle we’re Caro takes up finishing the gillan family tree were there is a complete mystery surrounding the missing wife of alasdairs great grandfather (could this be the body they found???). After digging around the castle Caro finds the dairy which starts explaining some of what happened but finds there are lots of pages missing she does eventually finds them hidden away and the story really starts it come together , a brilliant historical story
