I I loved this book and read it over the course of two days. The writing was so descriptive, I was immersed in the story. This book had everything, history, a love story, a mystery and a body. I don’t know this author but will look for more books written by her,
Caro and Alisdair move back to a cottage near his ancestral home. Caro, recently married with a new baby struggles with this and the relationship with her mother in law. Martha, her mother in law suggests that she research the family tree to try and uncover the mystery of her Grandmother. Shortly after this a body is discovered in the garden of their cottage. Caro finds some old diaries, through this we are transported back in time to the whaling industry which we see through the eyes of Oliver. I felt that I was in the Arctic with Oliver and Yarat, I loved their story and that of Caro, Alasdair and Martha.
