I have read a few stand alone books by Karin Slaughter in the past. I haven't read any of her books featuring Will Trent before so don't know if so far in a series is a good thing. I always like to read books in order especially if they are part of a series. However this book does sound good so I would read as it comes and take it from there. As I've enjoyed Karin Slaughter books before I would certainly give it ago. I would expect a gritty crime drama which is maybe not for the faint hearted based on the previous books I have read.
