The story begins with a court case and Sara Linton, a Medical Examiner, is giving evidence regarding the death of a young woman Dani Cooper, who told Sara in the moments before her death that she had been drugged and raped. The man in question is Tommy McAllister, when Sara comes across Tommy's mother in the toilet and she breaks down admitting that Tommy had done this many times before, Sara has a really bad thought, is this in any way related to fact that she was raped fifteen years ago? Before long Sara is working with her friend/partner Will Trent, a GBI Investigator, to try and understand what is happening to the women and why, and more importantly who is responsible? Also what is Tommy McAllister's mother hiding?
This is the eleventh book in the Will Trent series, although this is the first book that I have read in this series, which has now become very popular after appearing on a digital streaming platform.
