I love all of Karin Slaughter's books anyway and this was an absolute corker of a read.
A girl is brought into the ER where Sara Linton is working a shift. Despite all of everyone's efforts, she passes away but not before she has begged Sara to help bring her attacker to justice. As she was so injured and close to death she could barely whisper and no-one but Sara has heard her.
The car the girl was driving belonged to the son of a couple who were in med school with Sara. His mother, Britt, confronts Sara, desperately trying to get Sara to recant her statement. When she refuses, Britt lets slip that Sara should have seen the connection to an assault on Sara at the time they were finishing med school. Sara is confused and horrified and starts trying to find out more. Will and his partner give her as much help as they can without crossing lines as this is not an official GBI case.
The twists keep coming and the whole book is a very addictive story. I lost sleep racing throughit.
